Fiestas have been part of the Philippine heritage as the Spaniards integrated it to our way of life to distract us from the insurgencies happening during the time that we were under their regime. Colorful motives, pompous dresses and regional dances are just some factors which make fiestas worth to be awaited every year.

Culture has it that the family who sponsors most of the expenses is said to be the wealthiest, which makes fiestas the time to show just how materially abundant a person is. People who are not well-off are forced to keep up with the Jones and find means to create funds to survive this one-day superficial extravaganza.

There are many reasons for celebrating fiestas. The oldest reason for celebrating festias is religion-based. Normally, a certain municipality or province holds it in honor of a saint. Nowadays, fiestas can be used as a venue to promote products, such as bags that are made of anahaw leaves or others adopt the concept for their gatherings. Fiesta has been an outlet of Filipinos for so many decades to forget their problems for a while and have fun.

True to how it has been conceptualized by its production manager, Dance Pinoy Team has incorporated to its workshop the idea of fiesta as they are dance artists nurturing culture through entertainment. Expect a fusion of Philippine talent and culture at its best. More updates regarding the recital soon.

Filipino singer Charice scores her first number one hit in the Billboard charts this week with "Pyramid," the promotional single from her international debut album, "Charice."

"Pyramid" tops the Billboard Dance/Club Play Songs chart by booting out Rihanna’s “Rude Boy.”

This is the second time a Filipina singer charted in the US Billboard Dance chart. The first time was in the '90s when "Do You Miss Me" by San Francisco-based Jocelyn Enriquez reached as high as No. 8.

The Dance/Club Play charts tracks down the hottest hip hop, dance and club tinged pop songs in the US.

Charice broke into the US pop music scene with the help of her TV appearances on the Ellen Degeneres and Oprah Winfrey shows. Her megawatt performances in these shows, coupled with the viral promotion her Youtube clips generated, led to her signing up with an US based record label.

Charice is also admired by the likes of hit-maker David Foster, Josh Groban and "Idol" finalist David Archuleta. Charice’s self-titled international debut album was released in the US yesterday, May 11. "Charice" was launched on the "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

With “Pyramid” topping the dance charts, the main charts at Billboard, namely the Hot 100 singles chart and 200 album chart could be next for Charice.

1. The Ting Tings - "We Walk"
2. Pussycat Dolls feat.Snoop Dogg - "Bottle Pop"
3. Usher feat.Will I Am - "OMG"
4. Jamie Foxx, Justin Timberlake & T.I. - "Winner"
5. Kesha - "Your Love Is My Drug"
6. Jeremih - "Seen It Before"
7. Craig David - " One More Lie"
8. Sean Kingston & Justin Bieber - "Eenie Meenie"
9. Girls' Generation - "Run Devil Run"
10. Taio Cruz - "Break Your Heart"

http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/9687/ent2.jpgFor decades, singing has always taken precedent over dancing as an art form in Philippine pop culture. The biggest stars in the local industry, from Nora Aunor to Regine Velasquez and now, Sarah Geronimo, were able to break into the scene via their vocal prowess.

Not many dancers in the recent past have made it as big as these stars — not because there’s a dearth of them — but because more Filipinos would rather go to a karaoke bar than hit the dance floor. It’s all about relatability.

But times are changing. These days, groups such as Jabbawockeez, with its Filipino members, and Philippine All-Stars, are getting their fair share of attention.

Why, even in A.S.A.P. XV, entertainers who have never danced on cam before are showing off their terpsichorean skills (or the lack of it!). Then of course, there’s Rayver Cruz, John Prats, Kim Chiu, Shaina Magdayao, Gerald Anderson... a whole galaxy of talented celebrity dancers.

Hip-hop and R&B sensation Young JV is aware of the buzz surrounding dancing. Before the dancing fever completely takes off, he catches the bandwagon in time to incorporate dancing into his act by launching the Young JV’s Ready Or Not: Dance Off, a nationwide multimedia competition whose winners will form his new dance crew.

The dance competition will have aspiring groups recreate and step up the choreography from his latest dance single and music video, Shake Shake. Some 32 “crews” will have to exhibit competence, professionalism, team effort and creativity to stand out during the four elimination events to be held at select SM Super malls in June.

From these, 12 groups will be selected for the grand finals. The grand winner will receive P50,000 plus a chance to perform with Young JV in all his TV guestings and live shows, and in his forthcoming video for his next single, Can’t Get Enough.

Way before he consolidates his dance group, however, Young JV has already been honing his dancing skills by training under Arnel Serrano of Philippine All-Stars. He also gets to shake his booty as a member of A-Pop, a group on A.S.A.P. XV that sings mostly danceable tunes on the show every week.

Aside from having the prestige of becoming a member of Young JV’s Dance Crew, aspiring dancers should consider joining the contest for the opportunity to raise funds for the singers’ charity, The Lahing Bayani Foundation. Proceeds from the event will go to the foundation which helps support the education of orphans of soldiers who gave their lives in active service.

This is so typical of Young JV. He can turn something fun into one that’s far-reaching in terms of affecting people’s lives.

So, dance on, Soulja Boy. We’re right in step with you.

Manoeuvres started out in 1985 under the group name Wea Dynamics the first dance step that they introduced was the Harlem Shuffle, which they first promoted in Student Canteen.

In 1986 they moved to OctoArts, the publicist then of the company Ms.Aster Amoyo gave them the name OctoManoeuvres, the original members of the group include Uriel Policarpio,  Ronnel Wolfe , Jon-Jon Supan, Rene Sagaran and Jojo Lapena .

They became regular dancers of That’s Entertainment, LotLot and Friends and Lunch Date they  performed also in SM malls introducing new dance steps and promoting the album of the artists. Slowly the group began to be recognized as one of the finest dancers in the music scene having a followers of there own, they were more known to be doing the   Michael Jackson (Bad and Smooth Criminal) this are the moves that they have done and made a mark to the people especially to the young crowds.

Until one of there group member Ronnel Wolfe decided to leave to pursue his showbiz career as a singer, they needed a replacement. Therefore, they held an auditioned at the OctoArts office, Jason Zamora was one of them who tried his luck, and he danced with so much energy, which is one of the qualities that the group needed luckily he was chosen. Joshua Zamora and Jon Cruz were both regular dancers of Lunch Date they replaced two of the members Jon-Jon Supan because he wants to continue and finish his course in business management at Letran and Jojo Lapena went to Japan. Interestingly enough all these people took blue-collar jobs before they became part of the widely popular group. Rene Sagaran worked at Gillette, Jon-Jon Supan after college he worked as a dealer at Coca Cola, he also worked as a Med Rep and insurance agent, and at the same time, he went back to Manoeuvres. Jason Zamora and Brother Joshua both work at the same club as a bartender and cashier when they were young .The latter also tried his hand vending perfume door to door. All of them shared the same dream. They wanted to make a name for themselves as dancers.

Nineteen Eighty Seven  they had the opportunity to work with Mr.Gary Valenciano in his solo concert Pure Energy at the Folks Arts, and then followed by in 1988 concert at the Araneta Heart and Soul. They later signed with Genesis in 1989 with a new name Manoeuvres according to their choreographer Uriel Policarpio, Gary did not hesitate taking them because they share the same taste, their stint with Gary paved the way to a more fulfilling career, they have traveled to different countries and parts of the Philippines in Gary’s nationwide tour of “Shout”. Danced and wooed by audiences with their funky moves. Dancing has given them fame, they are considered the same as those who were ahead of them, they have always given more than 100% in every show they do. What have given them the strength aside from God, are their fans as they stated,” It’s always their dream to be applauded for our art of dancing rather than our looks”. On their tenth year they did a dance concert titled “Man At Large” which they held at the Star Complex Nov.5, 1994 because of the success of their first concert they did a repeat which they held in Heartbeat in September 9, 1995. The Manoeuvres dedication andcontinues effort to improve their craft makes them a cut above the rest. No one can contest the fact that the group does not dance for the sake of dancing. They have made street dancing an art itself. They put real rhythm and harmony in each step. Each move is accurate-not a step wider or a move bigger than the rest. For them, everything should be done in unison. Their splendid exhibition did not go unnoticed for no less than dance guru did. They were also included in such films “Hataw Na” with Gary, “SPO1 Don Juan” with Leo Martinez. They embarked on a mall and campus tours called “Dance Away with Drugs”, wherein they displayed other skills aside fromdancing. Every summer they have a dance workshop for young people at Trumpets Shangrila who want to learn their dance steps and be more fruitful during their vacation.

It was not all fun and frolic for the group. Their biggest setback was when longtime member Totit Gonzalo passed away five years ago. “Totit’s death opened up a lot of things for us we realized the value of life” says Jon. Their group was shaky at that time with no one to turn to. When Totit died their group was revive and their faith became stronger Totit became the instrument to be closer to the Lord, they think that it was the Lord’s way for them to unite. Weekly delving into the bible did wonders for the Manoeuvres not just being able to accept the loss but also helping them to become better persons.  They were able to grow spiritually and gain wisdom. Therefore, the key to success of the Manoeuvres is not just their attitude and discipline towards work. It’s the message these men have been trying to spread all these years:” Go against the flow. Get rid of cheating, of vices, of pride. You must put God first, in whatever you do. Work for the Lord that way you will have life that is more meaningful. Spoken like true Christians who all share the same passion for dancing. With these thoughts in mind, the Manoeuvres wish to share by performing several shows.  For 19 years  made a name for themselves as the country’s premier all- male dance group went through a period of trials in their lives and managed to get themselves together, and earned success through constant hard work, being creative and going against the flow. Truly, they are an inspiration not only to the young crowds but to everybody each has his own stories to tell that we can all relate.

Why should a foreigner who calls Pinoys  "stupid monkey" manage a national event which includes the FILPINO youth? Why not a Filipino Organization like PDSAP, DSCPI, PDTA who are 100% Pinoy w/ dedication in improving our youth? – Willy O. Rodriguez

For over three months now Mr. Willy Rodriguez, founder of Dancesport in Pasay, has been continuously battling out with the wrong doings of Australian National Stanley Alexander, head of Philippine Professional Dancesport Association (PPDSA). PPDSA works together with Austral-Asian Arts Theatre Dance International (AATD) in giving out quality trainings and high-class certifications to dance instructors who want to make it big in the industry. As what it says in its website, http://ppdsa-aatd.tripod.com, this certification body caters to a larger scale of dance teachers, reaching to the masses as its rates are competitively lower than other certification organizations.

Stanley would also want everyone in the Philippines who have UKA certification to get a full refund as it cannot be used in this country. Also, he is questioning the certification process of UKA and pointing out that Mr. Louie Tan’s certification as Professional Dance Teacher is questionable since he just won a competition and promoted to that right away from being in the level of Probationary Teachers’ Certification. A copy of this letter has been sent through e-mail to Ms. Fe Hidalgo, DepEd Secretary. Adamantia Angeli, the Executive Secretary of DepEd replied and asked Stanley to clarify the rules and procedures and if they could be of help but she was left unanswered.

Stanley then again e-mailed Mr. Rodriguez to inform that they have already a new website and that he is now with a new organization linked to World Dance and Dance Sport Council (WDDSC). The organization is Philippine Dance and Dance Sport Federation (PDDSF), http://ppdsa-aatd2.tripod.com/main_files/page0010.htm.

Mr. Rodriguez checked on the PDDSF address, 603 Manila Luxury Condominium Pearl St Corner Gold loop Ortigas. This address has been posted on websites of PPDSA WCDF AATD NDL and NDTC where scholarship for dance instructors is said to be offered.

Also, Mr. Rodriguez found out that Stanley’s Ambassador of Guam USA title is fictitious, as he verified it with Rina Gonzales of Security and Investigation at the US Embassy.

Mr. Rodriguez brought the matter to the Palarong Pambansa Head, Len Toledo, who has signed endorsement letters for Stanley with the title. His SEC registration which has been posted in social networking sites such as Facebook, as well as in endorsement letters for PPDSA, AATD, NDTC, NDL and WCDF have been dated 2004 and 2006 but Stanley’s organization have only been registered on July 17, 2007. Moreover, his officers stated in the website have not been recognized by SEC and they also do not hold GIS. In addition, teachers who have been under Stanley’s training had a hard time learning the syllabus and to this effect, they could not apply immediately what they have learned. Some Palarong Pambansa volunteers attest to that as they have been under Stanley’s training. Mr. Rodriguez asks, “how could a teacher learn adjudicating, teaching scrutineering, if they never experienced the floor and compete? Some adjudicators and students of Stanley are now w/ DSCPI.

Mr. Rodriguez wrote to Ms. Rebecca Garcia, President of Dancesport Council of the Philippines, Inc. (DSCPI), about the case of Mr. Stanley Alexander. He stresses that the only solution to this dilemma is for DSCPI to educate DepEd, CHED, Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and Philippine Sports Commission (PSC). According to Mr. Rodriguez, “Stanley have used the ignorance of our dedicated teachers and official of DEPED/CHED in dance sport matters) giving him a chance to take advantage of our fellow Filipinos.” He thinks that the Memo which Ms. Garcia sent to DEPED/CHED has not been disseminated properly or was lost along the way. He urges Ms. Garcia to invite the DEPED/CHED/PSC officials in competitions for them to know in which level the Philippines is in terms of dance sport, and also for them to compare it with Stanley’s teaching. DSCPI is the governing body recognized by the government of dancesport here in the Philippines, but here comes Stanley, a foreigner on tourist visa, claiming to be an Honorary Ambassador "AT LARGE".

Other anomalies of Stanley are: He has been going against and making issues on Blackpool winners Edna Ledesmaand John Co as they are not supposedly to win because to him they are amateurs. He wrote a letter to DepEd, CHED and Philippine Games and Amusement Board (GAB).
Also, he criticized the people in Cebu Dancesport as not yet in the professional level.

Stanley claimed that Bong Marquez has been his student but according to the man himself, he never was.

Palarong Pambansa is a government sponsored event and Stanley is asking for 2,500 workshop to competitors and student, as reported earlier by here: http://dancepinoy.com/news/parents-to-sue-dance-tutor

Oliver Victorano is a student of Stanley's PPDSA in 2001 but no longer renewed his membership, still Stanley included him on the list.

He put out a list of certified adjudicators by his organization but none of them attested it to be true.
In the next video, Stanley Alexander and VP Dona Cosejo are chatting while adjudicating in Dance Sport Palarong Pambansa. There are rules in the adjucating process that should be followed to ensure fair judgement.

Currently, Mr. Rodriguez is working on encouraging Filipinos in dancesport to join him in this battle. He is also reaching out to government agencies to be able to educate them on Dancesport. Stay tuned for more updates regarding this issue soon.

Greetings to all!

It’s back to basics, back to remembering, finding the ground once again
after the numerous outward flights … and Wifi Body Festival happens
again this year!

We revert to the idea that contemporary dance was borne out of the
struggle of undaunted spirits facing great odds, equipped only with the
vision to make dance accessible to all. Following that clarion call
came innovations in aesthetics, training and producing work – thus,
contemporary dance, not only thrives in the Philippines today, it is a
sector that is dynamic and exciting!

With the theme Body and Memory, Wifi Body 5, shall combine the
template of the Contemporary Dance Map series that started it all, and
attach it to the festival that happens at the Cultural Center of the
Philippines.

Hello Dancers!
Along with the summer heat and the much-anticipated election day comes a very busy season for the Pinoy dance community. The month of May is home to several summer dance workshops all over the country, proving the Pinoys' natural zest for dancing and performing. Dance Pinoy itself is gearing up for "Dance Piyesta: The 1st Dance Pinoy Summer Dance Workshop", set to kick-off next week. At the same time, we would like to send our shoutouts to the Philippine AllStars Summer Dance Workshop which is now on its last workshop week (watch out for their grand recital!), and to the Limited Edition-Manila's Summer Dance Workshop which on the other hand, starts today.

Start of Limited-Edition Manila's Summer Dance Workshop
In the ballet and contemporary dance scene, the CCP Dance School is still in the lookout for its next batch of scholars, and interested dancers can audition by the end of the month. If you want to take it to the next level and heed to the call of international competition, the Sibiu International Ballet and Contemporary Dance Competition to be held in Sibiu, Romania this June is inviting applicants, and deadline of application is this week.
Invitation: Interntl Ballet & Contemporary Dance Competition
In the dancesport scene, watch out for Dance Pinoy's upcoming news and reviews on the Palarong Pambansa 2010 Dance Sport Demonstration Tournament held in Tarlac.
URBAN DANCE / DJ 101 at EASTWOOD CITY WALK 2
In the hip-hop scene, we highly recommend the month-long Urban Dance/ DJ 101 Summer Jam held every Friday at the Eastwood City Walk 2 by the Brewing Point Dance Studio and DJ X-Factor. And happening this Saturday is perhaps one of the most important event in the world of local hip-hop, the "Hip-Hop Palooza & The 5th Philippine Hip-Hop Awards".
Hip-Hop Palooza & The 5th Philippine Hip-Hop Awards
The hip-hop event's representative dance battle is called "Breaking New Grounds 2" proudly brought to you by New Image Productions and B-Boy Promotions from Hawaii, in collaboration with ButtaFlava Entertainment and DancePinoy.com. In the following days, we will give you insider's access reports and the latest updates on this event.
Breaking New Grounds 2
Finally, as an appropriate and timely tribute, Dance Pinoy salutes our very own, homegrown hiphop dance music by introducing it's newest music hit chart dedicated especially to Flip-Hop, or Filipino Hip-Hop music. In collaboration with the Pinoy Hiphoppaz Org, we are proud to introduce the Dance Pinoy Flip-Hop Picks, to be launched this week!
So we have so much to look forward to!  To the dancers and denizens of DancePinoy.com, we thank you for your support and we will continue to develop this site as your premiere online dance lifestyle magazine. Have a safe week everyone!
P.S. To the dancers who will be voting today, choose wisely!

Do you have what it takes to be the next them?

At an airport ambush, a girl was able to get really close to her favorite K-Pop artist, enough to hold his hand and pass him a fan letter, which she composed with months of suppressed online stalking as a foundation. We are talking about a smart, creative, young female student with an interestingly quick wit to boot, who was bred within the confines of, like, y’know, the Arrr’neo de Manila University. Call me stereotypical, but it’s not usually expected that a girl of background would submit herself to such a scenario, wherein if stones and sticks could replace the cameras waving in the air, we would automatically be witnessing a scene right out of Flintstones.
Surely, fanaticism knows no age, class, and race.

In some sadistic way, I like seeing celebrities get mobbed. I am fascinated with the idea of fans wanting to rub celebrity DNA on their skin, so they can tell their future grandchildren that once upon a time, their cells had some kind of symbiotic relationship with said celebrity’s. It would be interesting to witness a sudden barrage of photographers harassing a member from, let’s say, a local boy band, who merely wanted to take a stroll in peace. However, in this time and age, chances of such encounters are next to impossible because 1) consumer fanaticism in the Philippines has yet to rise up to a consistent standard and 2) there is no actual established Filipino boy band to date. Wait, what?

Before blood levels rise, a need to define terminologies is at hand. For the sake of clarity, consistency, and dodging bullets, I will define what a boy band is. The words “boy band” do not merely refer to any musical group composed of three or more males. More often than not, a boy band is an effortlessly good-looking, fashion-savvy group that specializes in singing and dancing. They’re marketed as pure and innocently masculine; if there is a show of frank sexuality, it’s probably a direction dictated by their respective record labels … or possibly, the result of an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction. While everybody won’t necessarily love them, the entire nation knows them. Following this train of thought, I think it is safe to assume that the Philippines has yet to successfully launch and immortalize an iconic Filipino boy band, despite several humble attempts to do so.

If fanaticism does not pick its victims, and yet rendering our own version of a boy band has been in the works since MTV debuted videos of white shirt-clad teenyboppers dancing in the rain, what then are we doing wrong?

Lately, Manila has been swept off its feet by the K-Pop craze — Filipino fans swarm airports, check in at hotels or stake out nearby dining places for possible idol sightings. While Filipino fans can devote this much fanaticism to fellow Asian artists, and not so much to their own, this compelled me to study the Korean formula in forming the perfect pop group. Here are tips on how to concoct a mean boy band:

• Beauty is stagnant, talent is dynamic. It’s not exactly breaking news that our show business industry capitalizes more on aesthetics than talent. Unlike their counterparts here, Korean talent agencies are pretty realistic when it comes to picking their moneymakers — the untalented but pretty ones become models, the talented ones go into the performance pool, the pretty and talented ones eventually contribute the most to the company’s revenues. If you find yourself on the side of the judge’s panel, there is no room for dreams, only business. This strategy, though something that should have been entrusted to common sense, ensures Korean agencies that their talents are planted where they will actually grow. So be brave. Allow tears to form in those doe eyes that are illogically begging you for a chance at stardom. Trust me, it will benefit our pop culture in the future.

• Invest in the worthy. Not only is it important to recognize potential, it is equally, if not more important, to build on it. In Korea, a trainee usually goes through rigorous hours of singing and dancing on an almost daily basis, some even devoting nine to 10 years of their young lives to training. Trainees that do not show improvement can easily be dropped by the company, or are absorbed by other companies. Dancing and singing clips of the trainees are sometimes released to the public to garner interest and feedback from potential fans, so that the company can gauge who their assets are. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that the Internet serves as pre-debut marketing — it’s cheap, it’s fast, it’s free, and the fans gobble up information about the trainees as if their happiness depended on it.

• Any business venture should have a sound business plan. This is the most underrated step in forming a boy band. Amid imagining the glitz and glamour of pioneering semi-gods on their way to becoming collectible miniature figures, one must remember to be smart. Know your target market, come up with a solid concept, and map out a thorough marketing strategy. Koreans are very particular when it comes to conceptualizing. They pay close attention to their trainees’ characters, strengths, and weaknesses and base their group’s concept from there. Even their endorsements have to fit in with the image that they are trying to convey. A group with a sound concept can be like 2PM, which is a group of male teens specializing in singing, dancing, and gymnastics, or a group of cute, leggy, innocent young ladies like Girls Generation, who appeal mostly to young and middle-aged men. Another impressive trait of Korean talent agencies is their devotion to long-term goals. Case in point, majority of the Korean trainees are required to learn Japanese and English so that they can eventually penetrate the respective markets.

• Everybody loves a tease. Always leave the public wanting more. While exposure is good, too much of it can be bad. Individual Korean pop idols usually have hosting gigs and dramas on the side, but when it’s time to prepare for a new album, they literally vanish — a strategy that keeps the fans on their toes until the release of the next teaser video. Also, try not to let the members of your boy band do too many covers and dance numbers on variety shows. The fans’ anticipation wanes, thus shortening the boy band’s career.

• Quality should never be compromised. I am begging local recording companies to please invest in your artists’ songs and videos. If I say that I plan to hang myself if I hear another Filipino artist do a remake, I would probably have around 24 hours left to live. Korean pop groups usually seek out composers from different countries just to assure the quality of their songs. One girl group even bought out a song that artist Ke$ha was supposed to use. If budget is inevitably tight, please seek out local composers with actual talent and a portfolio to boot.

• Put your artists on a leash. One of the endearing traits of Korean pop groups is their humility towards media and their fans. Every mistake is accounted for with an apology, even if it’s something as simple as missing a dance step. They always ask for continuous support and guidance from the fans, and unfailingly promise better performances in the future. They are able to create and maintain a culture of mutual respect — something that needs to be practiced consistently in the local showbiz industry.

While I wish for our local artists to achieve international fame someday, at this point, it is more of a challenge for them to establish themselves locally. Even though I’m already past the boy band stage, I still wish to see a group that would win the hearts of proud Filipinos, instead of eliciting distaste. When that happens, baduy or not, we will ultimately be proud that all the clamoring, screaming, and clawing from fans are genuinely out of love for one’s own.

See you on Sunday!

Limited Edition Manila's Summer Dance Workshop starts today, May 10, at the Planet Jupiter Studio in Makati. We received some inquiries about how Limited Edition was formed as a group and how dancer/choreographer Mickey Perz brought the group to the Philippines and started Limited Edition Manila.

Dance Pinoy was able to rub elbows with Mickey Perz and the guys from Limited Edition on few occassions in the past but never really got down into a formal interview. If time and Mickey Perz permits, we would love to do a feature on Limited Edition soon. For now, those who inquired would have to settle with the bits and pieces I was able to pull up from the net. You can know more through accessing the link I quoted at the bottom. For sure, Dance Pinoy wishes Limited Edition Manila and its participants a successful summer dance workshop!

Start of Limited-Edition Manila's Summer Dance Workshop

"Two hearts of dancers built up Limited Edition years ago. They managed to perform on birthday parties and different events. After a few years other hobby movers integrated, basically to have fun dancing on their free time, they made a great leap ever since having fun on huge stages and appearing in front of hundreds of audience.

Since the beginning of 2005 they’re officially Limited Edition and have been performing around Europe on various competitions. Limited Edition's concept is to motivate beginners by giving them self-confidence and reminding everyone that the most important factor “fun” should never be left behind. Based on their idea they shortly organized an audition establishing a bigger Asian family."

Last May 5, 2010, Megamall awaited for MJ's reincarnation, Kenny Wizz to bring back to life the legacy that the King of Pop have left us.

Upon entrance, audience who want to be seated have to purchase any Michael Jackson CD or DVD.

Two brothers, seated in front with their parents, were dressed up ala-Michael Jackson as the younger was dancing in front while music was being played.

Going down the stairs of the basement off to the event center backstage, everyone got a glimpse of MJ's best impersonator.

As the time of the performance is nearing, the crowd is more thickening.

Hosted by Long Tall Howard, the show began in a few minutes.

The mini-concert began with a breath-taking production number of Kenny Wizz perofrming a medley of Jam, They don't Care about Us and In the Closet alongside with the KSP Dancers.

Afterwhich, he went on slow with I Just Can't Stop Loving You and You are Not Alone.

Everything reved up again when he performed Black and White.

Then, he continued on with Billie Jean, with a little twist of dancing to the beat of Mary J. Blige's Family Affair.

With the beats of Blood is on the Dance Floor, Kenny Wizz announced his comeback on August for another commemorative concert in tribute to the one and only Michael Jackson.

After the concert, everyone lined up on the right side of the stage to wait for the autograph signing by Kenny Wizz and an opportunity to get a picture taken with him. As whaong Tall Howard said, "It's the next best thing to having your picture taken with Michael Jackson".

Kenny Wizz: The Michael Jackson Show at SM Megamall is made possible by Steve O Neal Productions.

To know more about the world's no. 1 Michael Jackson Tribute Artist, here's a video of his interview with Ginger Conejero on ANC.

Watch out as Dancepinoy.com bring you its own MJ-inspired event this coming August...
WANNA BE STARTING SOMETHING to MAKE THAT CHANGE...

His alter ego Lady Gagita might be getting all the attention, but it was Vinzon Jeojay Rubia Booc’s concept, performing talents, and surprisingly impressive editing skills that elevated ‘Telephone’ from just another YouTube lipsyncing video. ‘Supreme’ talked to the tutor by day, superstar by night about his inspiration and creative process.

When did you start making YouTube videos? Were they always music video parodies?
I started making them way back in 2008, but I uploaded them in 2009. Yup, it’s all music video parodies.

Is vinzonleojay2009 Benzonce? You identify yourself as a really big Beyonce fan on your YouTube page. What about Beyonce made you such a big fan?
Yes, vinzonleojay2009 is Benzonce, I’m really her big fan because I was inspired by her to make such funny remakes and parodies with a little twist — which is the use of improvised props and costumes.

You do a lot of videos by artists like Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Britney Spears, and Shakira. Is there a common thread that ties these artists together? What about these artists that inspire you enough to make videos?

I only made Beyonce and Lady Gaga parodies. The one who made Britney Spears and Shakira is Haronce. They have a common thread and it is their genre of performing, which is pop.

What are the challenges you encounter in creating the videos? They’re very on-point and accurate. Obviously, a lot of work and dedication went into them. The editing, choreography, lip-synching in the videos are also really precise. How do you plan your shoots?

Making improvised props, the editing process, and the shoot are the main challenges I encountered on making parody videos because of time management and financial scarcity. I plan the videos with my group and we choose videos that are easy for us to replicate. The location for shooting is our poor little house and the compound of my family residence. We don’t go outdoors for shooting.

Do you have a background in production or film editing? What is it about a video that makes you want to make your own version. For example, why “Telephone”?

I don’t have any background in editing; I learned it all by myself. No one taught me how to do it. I learned it through exploring the program. I chose “Telephone” because we all know that it is one of the most controversial videos that Lady Gaga has made so far. A spark just came to my mind saying, “Why not make your own version of it? I bet it would be a big hit.”

How many times did you watch “Telephone” to get it all down? Be honest.
We watched it many times, but during shooting, we shot it frame by frame. That’s why it’s really precise when it comes to the finished product.

Your “Telephone” video is massive now. Everyone’s forwarding it to their friends and posting it on their Facebook walls. Do you know how it got so big? Did you promote it in anyway?
I did not promote it because we did not expect that it would be a big hit. For us, it was just a pastime, a hobby and we did not intend to make it popular.

According to the YouTube profile, Vinzon is “an extremely crazy Beyonce no. 1 fan” as well as a private tutor. What do your students think of your new celebrity status?
I don’t have a lot of students. I only have one student and he is my cousin.

International Ballet and Contemporary Dance Competition (SIBCDC) is currently accepting applications and fees for the 2010 competition to be held at the Union Cultural House in Sibiu, Romania June 10-13, 2010. Po-po-po-po-ker face: 17-year-old Vinzon Booc’s parody of Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” music video on YouTube has reached thousand of views in a short span of time.

Manila, Philippines - It’s the kind of music video experience that stays with you forever. A “Thriller” for the YouTube generation, this is the kind of media event you’ll tell your kids about. You remember where you were when you first saw it. You remember the awe and glory of seeing two of today’s top divas sharing the limelight. You remember the Thelma & Louise and the numerous Tarantino references. Heck, you remember the diner and the steps to “The Sandwich Dance.”

But if you were thinking Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” video featuring Beyonce, you got it all wrong. I’m talking about the hottest thing to hit your Facebook feed since a Lady Gaga video. I’m talking about, well, “Telephone,” but as rendered by the extraordinary, stupefyingly fierce Lady Gagita and her spunky sidekick Haronce.
A frame by frame reenactment of the “Telephone” video, Lady Gagita’s version features, among many others, Lady Gagita’s flash-dancing in what looks like the backyard of a home along the riles, Haronce simmering in the world’s most fiercest carinderia, and the world’s most mobile electric fan. It’s the best example of Pinoy ingenuity in a long time, as well as the worst thing for Pinoy conservatives since the DOH gave out condoms.
Before you can say “honey bee,” the video has gotten over 750,000 hits and space in the local news. In a Supreme exclusive, we talked to the star of the moment and learned about editing, resourcefulness, Haronce’s unprofessionalism, and the power of the Gaga.
SUPREME: When most superstars collide, carnage and diva tantrums are expected to follow. For you two, though, it seems like a pretty harmonious match. How did Benzonce and Lady Gagita meet? Did you hit it off from the get go?
LADY GAGITA: To clarify, Benzonce and Lady Gagita are the same person — and that person is me. Before I mimicked Lady Gaga and became Lady Gagita, I played the role of Beyonce using the alter-ego name of “Benzonce.” My two alter egos met when Lady Gagita arrived on my entity and unexpectedly won by being a big hit on YouTube.
Who is Haronce? Is she also Benzonce? Why does Beyonce have two doppelgängers? Is this a Sasha Fierce split personality kind of thing?
Haronce is the alter ego of my friend Harold Palermo. She is not Benzonce; they’re different. The reason why Beyonce has two doppelgangers is that we’ve idolized Beyonce since we became best friends. We always argue over being Beyonce; that’s why two dopplegangers were born. Though confusing, it’s true.
In your music video’s credits, you acknowledge the “special participation” of a certain Tom Gibson and other Mayaman University talents. Who is Tom Gibson and who are the Mayaman University talents? It all sounds very Haus of Gaga of you.
Tom Gibson is a childhood friend, who always supports me on my videos. He played certain roles as a featured guest (in the past). Though he doesn’t play the main character, I still value him as my talent. Aside from him, I have many other talents. Kim Lanos, Dannel Arth Tancuan, Deo Eloi Cui, Nico Palma Gil, and other talents were in the credits.
Where is Mayaman University? How does one enroll? Is there an entrance test? Talent test? Do you have to be mayaman to study in the school?
To clarify, Mayaman University is not a school. It is just called Mayaman University because we are claiming that it is an academy for talents. One enrolls by showing an extraordinary talent that is relevant to filmmaking. I promote them by giving them appearances in my videos. The name mayaman doesnt mean that we are rich people. We mean mayaman sa talento. Nevertheless, it really is in contrast with our real lives.
What is Vinzon Pictures Fix? Is this the official producer for all Benzonce and Lady Gagita projects? How did you get involved with the company?
Vinzon Pictures Fix is the name I gave for the editing department. And the editor that does all the editing stuff is me, nobody but me.
Most big-budget music videos shoot in exotic locations and with “Telephone,” the mold-breakers that you are, you pushed the limits of what we know as “exotic.” Did you shoot “Telephone” on location? Did you encounter any problems during the shoot?
We shot “Telephone” in our very own compound. We did not go outside to have a superb location, we wanted to make it more native but still extraordinary.
Actually, there were problems on the shoot. Haronce is very unprofessional when it comes to time management. We always quarrel about her unprofessionalism.
What’s next for Lady Gagita and Benzonce? Any projects we should look out for? Any advice for your Fame Monsters?
There are still projects I want to make. We plan to make more parodies, particularly Lady Gaga and Beyonce music videos. And I want my little monsters to look forward to (them). I want to thank my little monsters for making my video a big hit, because without them, my video would not be epidemic and viral as it is today.
