The Fiesta Republica of Malolos City, Bulacan awed audiences with its dazzling sights and sounds and its fantastic lineup of events celebrating the establishment of the country's (and Asia's) first republic in the historical city back in January 23, 1899. Eversince it's inception in 2010 with no less than the city's honorable Mayor Atty. Christian Natividad at the helm, the annual festival has achieved a level of prominence in the cultural scene, proving the city's status as a hotpsot for the best talents in local (and international) visual, musical and performance arts.
The Dulansangan in particular, the festival's grand finale, is a spectacular showcase of Maloleno creativity combining dance, theater, music and history in an extravaganza of artistry, patriotism and national pride. For this year, 10 schools heeded the call for the artistic battle and went on a friendly yet fierce head-to-head showdown with one another to give tribute to the legacy of the Women of Malolos, a trip down the corridors of time to commemorate how the local womenkind contributed in shaping the city's history.
Spearheaded by the City of Malolos - Division of Arts, Culture, Literature and Sports (CMO - ACTS) with Deputy Rommel Santiago and Program Head of Dulansangan Ms. Marichelle Bernardo, Dance Pinoy was able to chat with event organizer and production head Mr.Carlo Bajado Virano to talk about what to look forward to in this year's edition of the highly-anticipated Dulansangan.
Furthermore, event host Mr. MC Silencio emphasized the significance of this year's festival's focus on immortalizing the stories of the women of Malolos.
At the colorful conclusion of the evening's event, the students and teachers of Marcelo H. Del Pilar National High School emerged as the victor, followed by the CMIS-Canalate and the Malolos Marine Fishery School and Laboratory in second and third place respectively.
