Along with the summer heat and the much-anticipated election day comes a very busy season for the Pinoy dance community. The month of May is home to several summer dance workshops all over the country, proving the Pinoys' natural zest for dancing and performing. Dance Pinoy itself is gearing up for "Dance Piyesta: The 1st Dance Pinoy Summer Dance Workshop", set to kick-off next week. At the same time, we would like to send our shoutouts to the Philippine AllStars Summer Dance Workshop which is now on its last workshop week (watch out for their grand recital!), and to the Limited Edition-Manila's Summer Dance Workshop which on the other hand, starts today.
In the ballet and contemporary dance scene, the CCP Dance School is still in the lookout for its next batch of scholars, and interested dancers can audition by the end of the month. If you want to take it to the next level and heed to the call of international competition, the Sibiu International Ballet and Contemporary Dance Competition to be held in Sibiu, Romania this June is inviting applicants, and deadline of application is this week.
In the dancesport scene, watch out for Dance Pinoy's upcoming news and reviews on the Palarong Pambansa 2010 Dance Sport Demonstration Tournament held in Tarlac.
In the hip-hop scene, we highly recommend the month-long Urban Dance/ DJ 101 Summer Jam held every Friday at the Eastwood City Walk 2 by the Brewing Point Dance Studio and DJ X-Factor. And happening this Saturday is perhaps one of the most important event in the world of local hip-hop, the "Hip-Hop Palooza & The 5th Philippine Hip-Hop Awards".
The hip-hop event's representative dance battle is called "Breaking New Grounds 2" proudly brought to you by New Image Productions and B-Boy Promotions from Hawaii, in collaboration with ButtaFlava Entertainment and DancePinoy.com. In the following days, we will give you insider's access reports and the latest updates on this event.
Finally, as an appropriate and timely tribute, Dance Pinoy salutes our very own, homegrown hiphop dance music by introducing it's newest music hit chart dedicated especially to Flip-Hop, or Filipino Hip-Hop music. In collaboration with the Pinoy Hiphoppaz Org, we are proud to introduce the Dance Pinoy Flip-Hop Picks, to be launched this week!
