Punyal ni Rosa literally means 'dagger of Rosa' in the Tagalog vernacular. It is courtship dance from Paete, Laguna with a very sad story line acted out in dance. A male and female pair of dancers acts out the tragic story of a spurned suitor who desperately tries to win by force the love of a girl named Rosa. The girl rather stabs herself rather than submit to the advances of the man.
