SAYAW PINOY: The 4th NCCA National Dance Competition
in celebration of the National Dance Week and the International Dance Day 2012
The National Committee on Dance of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts under the leadership of Shirley Halili-Cruz in partnership with SM Mall of Asia present “Sayaw Pinoy: The 4th NCCA National Dance Competition” as part of its efforts to promote dance in its various forms – folkdance, neo-classical, modern/ contemporary, hip hop and ballroom. It aims to stress the importance of the competition as a means of motivation for artistic excellence but not an end to itself. It also hopes to teach emotional fitness through teamwork as the group experience will bring about dependability, responsibility, commitment, sportsmanship, discipline, creativity and awareness of the value of the art of dance. Consequently, acquiring the value of working together towards common goals will extend to daily undertakings beyond the competition.
Anchored on this belief, the NCCA-NCD launched Sayaw Pinoy: The NCCA National Dance Competition in 2009. It has been participated in by hundreds of dance companies and troupes across the country. This competition aims to promote artistic excellence in the different dance forms in the spirit of friendly competition. Sayaw Pinoy, The 4th NCCA National Dance Competition is one of the lined up activities in celebration of the National Dance Week and the International Dance Day.
Together with SM Mall of Asia, the NCCA is making this competition accessible to the general public by holding the competition in the country’s premier mall and center of variety of events. The following are some of the details about Sayaw Pinoy: The National Dance Competition 2012.
