UP OBEM BEAT IV: Youth Break Free for Child Hope Asia

Yesterday, high school dance groups gathered 'round the UP School of Economics Auditorium to witness the battle among the schools they represent. The competition is organized by the UP Organiztion of Economics Majors (UP OBEM) on its fourth year now - BEAT IV: Youth Break Free.

Children from Child Hope Asia welcomed everyone through a contemporary dance number.

The opening remarks has been delivered by UP OBEM Class President Roland Allan Claridad.

Hosted by Gelo and Marvin, the event went on to the contest proper as they introduced each competing groups.

These groups are:
St. Scholastica Academy of Marikina
Arellano University Plaridel
Holy Spirit National High School
Holy Infant Montessorri Center
St. Vincent Antipolo Academy

These groups underwent the strict scrutiny of the following judges:
Ezra Ballonado, an upcoming talent in modelling, singing and dancing.
Mervin Manuel, pioneer member of Dance Pinoy Team, jazz/contemporary dancer.
James Salas, pioneer member of Universal Motion Dancers, owner of Talents Workshop Hub.

Aside from these judges' verdict, each groups were also scored according to the number of votes they received through the voting booth at the back of the auditorium. P2 equals to one vote, which is 15% of the total score. At the end of each performance, the audience can vote for their favorite group for 20 seconds.

5th Place - Arellano University (P928.00)
4th Place - Holy Spirit (P1,083.00)
3rd Place - St. Vincent (P1,088.00)
2nd Place - St. Scholastica (P2,555.00)
1st Place - Holy Infant Montessori (P 3,293.00)

The choreographers of each dance group were given a certificate of participation in behalf of the students.
There was also raffle prizes from UP OBEM's event partners for the audience to be won.

Child Hope Asia children again renedered two song numbers, Break Even (Falling to Pieces) by Script and Price Tag by Jessie J ft. B.oB.

As everyone waited for the announcement of winners, all the groups gathered on stage to show off their moves.

And at last, the moment everyone has waited for...

2nd runner-up - St. Vincent Antipolo
1st runner-up - Holy Infant Montessori Center
CHAMPION -  St. Scholastica Marikina
