I used to go to Cosplay and Anime Conventions a lot when I was in high school and college, and seeing that I grew up watching anime, I don’t think this comes as a big surprise. I stopped going in the later part of 2009 to focus on school, but since all of that nonsense is over, why not start going again?
One of my cousins was going with some of her friends, and she introduced me to the entire concept of a K-Pop Cover Group (Ozine Fest Day 1 was for K-Pop). I’m not entirely sure I understand it, or that I see the point, but she wanted a photographer to take photos, so I went.
I’m not huge on K-Pop, J-Pop, T-Pop, C-pop, P-pop, or most forms of pop, but I’ll have to say that the K-pop Costumes were pretty awesome. Much more awesome than the anime cosplayers.
It’s either Day 1 for the anime cosplayers was just really bad because it was specifically for K-pop, was on a weekday AND I wasn’t looking hard enough or everything just went to hell the last time I went to a convention. I’m going with the first one. I’m no expert on these things. Just keeping it real.
Needless to say, I guess I was pretty disappointed. There were more people in regular clothes than people in costume… and I had more fun taking photos of the figurines on display. :( Ok, I was being picky. Very picky. But seriously, kids! Step up your game already. If I wanna see Comic Alley merchandise, I’ll be sure to visit their store. I know you guys can do better than that.
I suddenly miss HG and Pedobear! :p
