CCPDS’ March Scholars’ Evaluation Program Today

This weekend, the CCP Dance School presents its scholars in its year-end performance, the March Scholars’ Evaluation Program. Geared as a teaching platform for classical and contemporary repertoire, new works and performing experience, the MarSEP pushes CCPDS scholars to higher levels as dance artists.

The SY2010-11 MarSEP will feature excerpts from the classical story ballet Sleeping Beauty, as well as snippets from Noordin Jumalon’s Starzan’s Jeniz, which premiered in the 2006 Summer Dance Workshop. Starzan’s Jeniz will be restaged in the 42nd CCP Summer Dance Workshop which runs from April 5 to May 22. The MarSEP will also introduce the scholars from the CCPDS’ satellite school, Arts in the City, with a rendition of one of Ballet Philippines’ most popular pieces by Tony Fabella, Tambol at Padyak. Another highlight of this performance would be the showcase of Ballet Philippines’ company members and NAMCYA 2010 winners Cyril Fallar and Philip Rocamora. Fallar and Rocamora will be presenting their competition pieces for the upcoming Boston International Ballet Competition to be held this May 2011.

The March Scholars’ Evaluation Program is also a fund-raising program for the Save Our Scholars Fund. Members of the audience are invited to participate and donate in the “pass-the-hat” tradition at the end of the performance. MarSEP performance is on March 5, Saturday 1:00pm at the CCP Rehearsal Hall.
