This coming semester, the UP OBEM (UP Organization of Business Economics Major) will bring back the much awaited battle, "BEAT: Be In Control" and rock the sizzling stage of Bulwagang Tandang Sora, CSWCD, University of the Philippines, Diliman Quezon City on September 18, 2010.
UP Organization of Business Economics Majors (UP OBEM) is a duly recognized socio-academic organization by the University of the Philippines, an active member of JPES (Junior Philippine Economics Society) and a founder of PhilCES (Philippine Council for Economics Students). It is committed to the core thrusts of UNITY, SERVICE and EXCELLENCE. UP OBEM provides its members venues for encouragement of academic growth, individual potentials, as well as the exposure to activities that serve the marginalized sector of the society. For more than 20 years, they continue to promote holistic development among students inside and outside the university by organizing such events that will create awareness and help other people.
BEAT: Be In Control is an INTER HIGH SCHOOL dance competition organized by the UP OBEM. This will showcase different talents from various high schools. This is one of the organization’s events that will generate funds for the education of their World Vision child scholar. Aside from that, the event also serves as a campaign to divert the student’s attention from drugs to dance. This is definitely a worthwhile cause!
Dance is the universal language, and there is something about dance that fills many with so much joy. BEAT: Be In Control is beyond breaking, popping, and locking, but it’s more of uplifting the aesthetic awareness and value of the Filipinos on dance as an art form.
