Young JV's "Ready or Not" Dance-Off

Young JV’s Ready or Not Dance-off is a dance competition, which will challenge dance crews to recreate and step up the choreography from Young JV’s music video “Shake Shake.” This event also aims to showcase the different talents of hiphop dance crews in the country by testing their competence and creativity throughout all the tasks.


ENTRY CRITERIA



  1. A group consists of 6-8 dancers, ages 16 – 25 years old, any gender combination (all male. all female or combined).

  2. Interested participants are required to audition themselves online by creating a video 1 – 1.5 minutes long, featuring a short dance routine to Young JV’s song “Shake Shake.”

  3. The video should feature the dance group’s signature styles as interpretation to the song. Video editing gimmiks can be used, but the key factor to pass the audition is the choreography.

  4. Song to be used in the short video should be Shake Shake only, and not mixed with other dance songs.

  5. All video entries must be uploaded at by May 15, 2010. Crews who pass will move on to the eliminations.


 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR ELIMINATIONS



  1. Crews who pass the video audition will automatically move on to the elimination rounds.

  2. Crews are tasked to create a full 3-minute dance piece with songs of their choice, but should include “Shake Shake” within the mix.

  3. A grace period of ten (10) seconds plus or minus is allowed resulting in a minimum of two minutes and fifty seconds (2:50) and a maximum of three minutes and ten seconds (3:10). Timing begins with the first audible sound (includes cueing beep) and ends with the last audible sound. There will be a 1 point penalty for every second that exceeds maximum allowed time for the piece.

  4. There is no maximum or minimum number of songs or recordings that may be used in the routine.

  5. The songs may be edited to enhance choreography and personal performance. Shake Shake

  6. Choreography should be __________minute of the whole piece. [or we can just indicate which part, like chorus only, to standardize the segment]

  7. The routine to be performed must be exclusively prepared for this competition. Organizers will not provide the group’s music. Replicating of other crew’s choreography  and mix, both local and international are not allowed and can be grounds for the group to be disqualified.

  8. Elimination Legs are scheduled on the following dates:

  • June 27 – SM xxxxx


The crews with the 4 highest scores per the Elimination Leg will move on to the Finals.

Criteria for Judging:

-          Concept and Choreography for Shake Shake Dance Segment

 

IV.        Showmanship   ---------------------------------------------------    10 points

-          Over-all Manner of Presentation

-          Entertainment Value

 

V.         Audience Impact   ------------------------------------------------    10 points

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR GRAND FINALS


   1.  Crews who pass the Eliminations will automatically move on to the Grand   Finals.

   2. Crews are tasked to create a full 4-minute dance piece with songs of their choice, but should include

       “Shake Shake” within the mix.

   3. Crews have the option to use the same 3 minute piece from the Elimination Legs, but the piece for the

       Finals should be 4-minutes long. At least 1 minute of new choreography is expected from all participants.

   4. A grace period of ten (10) seconds plus or minus is allowed resulting in a minimum of three minutes and

       fifty seconds (3:50) and a maximum of four minutes and ten seconds (4:10). Timing begins with the first

       audible sound (includes cueing beep) and ends with the last audible sound.There will be a 1 point penalty

       for every second that exceeds maximum allowed time for the piece.

   5. The same music mix guidelines in the Eliminations will be implemented in the Finals.

   6. The Criteria used in the Eliminations will also be used for the Grand Finals.

   7. The crew with the top 3 highest scores will win First Place, Second Place and Third Place.
